Charco Azul Swimming hole, Puerto Rico

Last updated Oct 1, 2024

Charco Azul. Lush tropical forest hike trail with a beautiful natural creek pool at the end. This is a great place to visit. Many you want to wind down a little from the most crowded places? Then come here and walk to the swimming hole.

Charco Azul, Puerto Rico

It is about a 10 – 15 minute walk in the forest where you walk on a trail close to a small river. It is beautiful and it is a truly quiet place. A hidden gem where not that many tourists come but mostly locals. It is free of charge and you park your car at the parking area and walk to the swimming hole.

Swimming hole

Once you get to the swimming hole the water is bright blue and very cold. Yes the water is very cold but it is very nice to take a dip. There is a picnic area and toilets that you can use. We did not try either of them so I have no idea of how good or bad they are :).
I will be honest – I did not swim around because the water was to cold for me. I did however get into the water for a quick dip. Here you can spend hours and hours just listening to the sounds of the forest and the noise the water makes.

We got company

I was super excited because right when we parked our car we got company from two dogs. They walked with us all the way to the swimming hole and back. I would have loved to take them with me but they did not look like strays. They looked well fed and well taken care of. However we did enjoy their company during our trip here!
This place is definitely worth visiting!

Vad härlig! Jag älskar swimholes/vattenfall/varmakällor ect! En av de finaste jag har besökt måste vara Semuc Champey, i Guatemala.
How wonderful! I love swim holes / waterfalls / hot springs ect! One of the most beautiful I have visited must be Semuc Champey, in Guatemala.
