There are places that you find interesting. And there are places that you find nice. Then there are places where you feel like staying for a long time. Del Morro (short for El Castillo San Felipe del Morro) is such a place. You want to enjoy life here. Walking around and why not fly a kite outside in the green grass?

El Castillo San Felipe del Morro
This is a citadel that is located inside the old town of San Juan. It was designed to protect the entrance to the San Juan Bay. Today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a place where tourists flock. This is a must see while in Puerto Rico. This place is a lot different than many other ruins, even if it is somewhat same same. The thing that I love about this place is the fact that right by the “El Morro”, there is a cemetery and the whole place feels like taken from a movie.
A cemetery right by the ocean where all is white is a beautiful site. I am not an superfan of the morbid and sure it sounds strange to point out that the cemetery looks beautiful but its true. I believe that it is the combination of the fortress together with the water and the big green lawn that makes the graveyard look peaceful and nice.
Fly a Kite
You might not be that kind of traveler that bring a kite whenever you travel. No worries – they are selling kites all over the place around the green lawn surrounding the El Castillo San Felipe del Morro. You see families and couples and dogs and children running around. All the kites that are in the air are making this special rustling sound and some children are rolling down the hills in the grass. We just sat down in the grass and looked up after we have been inside the Morro. But be aware. I hade a big kite that crushed into me (ok so not quite true but it got really close). Even if it would have hit me I’m sure I would have been fine but it scared the s*it out of me!
While here you are within walking distance to museums, restaurants and of corse the ocean!
