Great Coffee by World known Barista
Søren Stiller Markussen is not just a award winning barista, he is also a coffee roaster. During our press trip with Visit Denmark we got to meat this friendly and impressive man. First off – once you go inside the great coffee, you know immediately that this is “not just another coffee place”. No, this is more than that! This is a place that takes coffee to a whole new level.
My first thing is to look at the prices. How much can a coffee cost that is made from one of the worlds best baristas? The answer is 17 – 55 danish crowns. If you ask me, that is a great price for the experience.
Coffee is the Black Gold
Søren takes great pride in his coffee making. While we were there we got to taste different kinds of coffee and think that we all were impressed. My cappuchino was the smoothest ever! Ok so I will be honest. If you are expecting something exclusive and extra, you might add some extra *umph* to the experience. But I do not think that anyone can deny that we got truly great coffee.
We even got to try a coffee syrup that was made out of the coffee skin. And some espresso that had been stored in a wooden logg. It was truly a work of art.
Coffee VS Coffee
On the shelves in the café awards and prices are piling up. Truly impressive that you can compete in the art of making coffee.
– If you ask me, there is nothing that is called light roast or dark roast. You roast so that you can taste the characteristic of the coffee and where it is from, says Søren.
He compares the coffee to wine, and how you can taste the difference between different grapes. In all honesty, I can not say the difference between grapes but I do know if I like my wine or not. And the same about coffee. And the brewing of the coffee is also worth seeing. We had never seen anyone make coffee in this way before.
Worlds most expensive coffee
Ok so a couple of years ago, Mini and I got coffee that was supposed to be the most expensive coffee in the world. Kopi Luwak from Indonesia (also called poop-coffee is suppose to be the best in the world. A Palm martens eats only the best coffee beans and poop them out. After they are taken from the poop, the coffee is roasted and you get splendid coffee.
Mini asked Søren about that and found out that this is all bulls*it. I guess that the more extreme it gets, the more people are willing to pay for it. And we trust one of the worlds best baristas when he says that there is no such thing that the coffee tastes better because it has passed through an animal.
Ending this with a video that explains to you just how dedicated this man is to making coffee – truly impressive!
Information about Great Coffee
Besides drinking a magical cup of coffee, you can also buy a lot of things in here. You can brew the coffee at the same way at home but in all honesty – I am not sure it would taste the same at home.
