We have been fortunate to go scuba diving in Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel. It is a very big difference on the reefs even if Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel are so close to each other.

Differences between Cozumel and Playa del carmen

There are differences between the two dive sites and of course there are also differences between diving in Cozumel and diving in other parts of Cozumel, but we’ll give you the general differences between diving in Playa Del Carmen and diving in Cozumel:

• More fish in Playa Del Carmen.
• The water is clearer in Cozumel.
• The dive sites are deeper in Cozumel.
• Cozumel is more of a drift dive.
• In Cozumel you have to go to the reefs by boat.

Obviously, there are more differences, but these are the most distinctive. If you are an experienced scuba diver and did not have problems with drift dives or wall dives that are very deep then Cozumel is a beautiful option. If you are a beginner and not so comfortable to dive in deep water then Playa Del Carmen is preferable!
Which did we liked best … hard to say – you have to decide for yourselves!

There are many different places to go Scuba diving in Mexico but we really think that Cozumel and Cenote diving is the best way to go.
