As you stroll through the cobbled streets of Bruges, it’s impossible to miss the many chocolate shops that line the historic center of the city. Here you’ll find small, artisanal shops where chocolatiers create their own unique pralines, filled with everything from traditional ganaches to unexpected flavors like spices, fruit, and local ingredients.

A City Filled with Chocolate Shops
Some of the most famous chocolate shops in Bruges include Dumon, The Chocolate Line, and Pralinette, all of which offer the highest quality chocolate art.
Eat chocolate in Brugge
In Brugge which is quite a small town, there are a lot of chocolate stores. My favorite name was by far the “chocoholic“, the best name ever. To walk inside the different stores is an attraction for sure. If you are walking around it is free of charge. If you start to buy chocolate there is no price tag to where you will end up.
I honestly believe that you can find anything made out of chocolate here. Whether it is one of the world’s seven wonders, animals, or tools – here you can find anything!
And the smell? The smell of chocolate mmmm life is good!
Choco-Story – a chocolate museum
To immerse yourself in the history and production process of chocolate, a visit to the Choco-Story in the center of Bruges is recommended. The museum will take you on a journey through the history of the cacao bean, from its origins with the ancient Mayan people to today’s sophisticated chocolate art. Here, visitors will learn how chocolate is made, from beans to ready-to-eat chocolates, and of course, you will get to taste it during the tour. The museum is a perfect experience for kids and adults alike, with interactive exhibits and demonstrations from skilled chocolatiers
Chocolate Festivals and Events
Bruges celebrates chocolate all year round with various festivals and events. During the Bruges Chocolate Festival, which is usually held in spring, chocolatiers from all over Belgium gather to showcase their best creations. Visitors can enjoy chocolate tastings, live demonstrations, and even chocolate sculptures. It’s a great opportunity to taste new and innovative chocolate creations and maybe find a new favorite chocolate.
One plus is that a lot of the stores give away samples. While visiting you can eat your way through Brugge.
A Journey for the Taste Buds
Exploring Bruges through its chocolate is an unforgettable experience. It’s a journey that will take you from historical pralines to modern flavors and artistic creations. Whether you’re a chocolate connoisseur or just seeking a sweet break from sightseeing, Bruges offers a variety of ways to enjoy chocolate culture.
