It’s time for cod fishing with the Landskrona boats. The meet up takes place in Landskrona’s harbor at 07:40, 20 minutes before departure. We all board the boat. The age is mixed, but they all have one thing in common – all are men (apart from one, Me).

Cod fishing in Landskrona, Sweden
On their website it says “Full speed in the deep” and it describe the fishing trip well. It is all about catching fish and nothing else. Forget the quiet tranquil fishing with coffee in one hand and a rod in the other, this is only about catching fish!
How do they fish?
The boat is cruising and looking for fish with the help of sonar. When a shoal of cod are detected, the boat slows – a horn sounds and all the fishermen releases their baits in the water – fish, fish, fish – a horn sounds again – reel up the bait, with or without fish – the boat runs untill the next shoals is found – a horn sounds and all releases their baits once again – fish, fish, fish – a horn sounds again -reel up that line, with or without fish, and so it continues untill the boat steers back to the harbour.
Our trip:
We chose to go on a 7 hour tour ( Minis cousin Isak was with us) and we had really fun! It was truly an experience and although we sometimes felt stressed about that one would fish on command, still it was really cool! Sometimes it felt like we drove around in circles a bit too much to look for fish. For us it felt like we where fishing at more or less the same place every time that horn yelled. The stress we might have been able to control ourselves because we could have chosen not to jig every time but … we paid for it so we better fish right!
A tip: The sonar is located in the middle of the boat so thats where the fish will be!
Highlights from the fishing trip:
* I got a cod and because it was heavy as hell I wanted to give the rod to Mini. He also had a cod on so I turned to Isak and he to had a cod = all 3 had fish on at the same time!
* We were without a doubt the most inexperienced fishermen there but like that really matter. We still got fish … just as much as they actually!
* Seagulls loved us because many of us cleaned the fish on board and threw the rest in the water for the seagulls to feast on.

Strömsituationen i Sundet är väldigt speciell. Ofta säger fiskare bara att det drev så förbaskat, att strömmen var stark, eller något liknande, utan att veta bakgrunden till varför man drev. Ska man bli bra på bulefiske så måste man veta detta. Båten kan driva både med vinden och med strömmen och pilken kan dessutom dras iväg av strömmar nere i vattnet. Ofta sker allt på en gång. Den nästan allenarådande ytströmmen i Sundet, som gör att båten driver, är den “Baltiska strömmen” Den Baltiska strömmen flyter alltid norrut genom Sundet och därför driver man 95 % av fallen norrut. Den Baltiska strömmen kommer från Östersjön och består av sötare Östersjövatten som flyter ovanpå det tyngre saltare vattnet i Sundet. Beroende på hur vindarna blåst den senaste tiden och hur vattennivåskillnaden är mellan Östersjön och Västerhavet så kan den Baltiska strömmen variera mycket i styrka. Strömmen styrka kan faktiskt variera mycket under samma dag. Vissa dagar står ytvattnet nästa helt stilla medan det andra dagar kan forsa fram med 4 knop.Det beror också mycket på var i Sundet du är. Nere vid Ven är strömmen oftast svag. Ligger du däremot och fiskar på Lappegrund eller uppåt Domsten så kan den vara fruktansvärt stark. Hur djup strömmen är varierar också mycket. Ibland är den bara någon meter djup.
