Opera house in Wroclaw, PolandThe opera house in Wroclaw is a spectacular building. Masterpieces has been played here since 1845 and to this day you can explore the world of opera. We got to see Guiseppe Verdis “Trubadur” while on a press trip in Wroclaw.

Wroclaw Opera House

The opera house does not only present dark and “hard” operas like the Trubadur. Here you can come with your whole family and see Red Riding Hood and other more easy plays. A lot of people will say that they don’t like the opera. Most of them saying that have never been. Don’t get me wrong – Im no huge operafan, however I do appreciate trying something new. The opera in Wroclaw was our first opera ever. The special thing was that we got to see a famous play and that it was the premiere for the play.

The opera house itself is spectacular to see. If you are not up for seeing an opera you will also miss out on seeing this beautiful place from the inside. And since this is one of Polands most famous opera houses, its a great place to visit!

Giuseppe Verdis Trubadur

Like I said we got to see this play premiere. However you need to check their schedule to plan which play you can see while in Wroclaw. The Trubadur was an Italian play with Italian lyrics – making it almost impossible to understand. For the polish people they had subtitles above the scene so they could read. I do speak and read polish but the language was way to hard for me. Instead I fantasized my own lyrics and I believe the synopsis of the play was different for me than intended.
Notes from the Opera houseI did get that it was a classic triangle drama with two men and one woman. The performance was amazing when it came to singing – fantastic! The scenery was really simple. I believe the explanation for that was that it is a war but I would have loved to have som bling bling on the scene! Ok so I will not ramble on more because I might offend someone that really got the opera. But I did enjoy it and I thought it was really good. Mini was up and taking pictures between the acts and it is truly beautiful in there!
