Our travel guides from the Americas & the Caribbean
Welcome to our complete Americas and Caribbean travel guides. From the rugged, wild landscapes of North America to the vibrant cultures of South America and the tropical paradises of the Caribbean, this region holds some of our most unforgettable travel milestones. Whether you are looking for outdoor adventure travel like cruising glaciers and hiking in Alaska, or seeking relaxing Caribbean travel tips for pristine beaches and diving spots, our curated itineraries and guides are here to help you plan an epic journey across the Western Hemisphere.
Our thoughts about the Americas
The Americas are not exactly short on places to explore. From the vast landscapes and lively cities of North America to the colourful cultures of Central America, the tropical islands of the Caribbean and the dramatic scenery of South America, this is a part of the world where you could probably travel for years and still have a very long list of places left to see.
North America has everything from legendary highways and spectacular national parks to enormous cities and those wonderfully strange roadside attractions that make you wonder who decided, “Yes, people definitely need to stop here.” And sometimes they are exactly the places you remember.
Further south, South America offers a completely different adventure, with dramatic mountains, fascinating cultures, historic cities, incredible wildlife and landscapes that seem almost too impressive to be real. Then there is the Caribbean, where turquoise water, beautiful islands and warm weather make it dangerously easy to forget that you were supposed to go home.
What we love about travelling through the Americas is the sheer variety. One day you can be driving through an endless landscape with nothing but the road ahead, and the next you can find yourself exploring a buzzing city, standing somewhere with a spectacular view or wondering how on earth you ended up at yet another completely unexpected place.
At FinallyLost, we share the destinations and travel stories that have stayed with us – the places that surprised us, the experiences that made us laugh, and the occasional detour that turned out to be far more interesting than the original plan. Explore North America, South America and the Caribbean, get inspired and see where the road takes you.
You don’t have to see everything in the Americas. In fact, that’s probably a good thing. It gives us an excuse to come back.
Travel guide to the Caribbean
Explore the Americas
The Americas are hard to sum up in one destination. From the wide-open landscapes of North America to the colourful cities, tropical islands and dramatic scenery further south, this is a part of the world where every journey can feel completely different.
At FinallyLost, we’ve explored parts of the Americas and discovered that some of our favourite travel memories have come from simply being curious about what was around the next corner. From classic road trips and iconic landmarks to unusual places and unforgettable experiences, there is always another story waiting to be found.
Discover the Americas Through Our Travel Stories
From the United States and Canada to Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America, the Americas offer an enormous variety of landscapes, cultures and travel experiences.
We’ve travelled through different parts of the region and collected stories from places that caught our attention along the way. Some are famous destinations you’ve probably heard of. Others are the kind of places you might never have found unless you went looking.
Our Destinations section brings together our travel stories from around the world, while Travel Experiences lets you explore the things to see and do rather than simply choosing a destination.
From Iconic Sights to Unexpected Places
There are plenty of famous sights across the Americas, but some of the most memorable experiences can happen away from the obvious tourist trail.
Explore our Sights & Attractions for landmarks, museums, historic places and attractions worth visiting. If you prefer something a little stranger, our Odd Places takes you to unusual and unexpected destinations that don’t necessarily appear in every guidebook.
And sometimes the experience itself becomes the reason for the journey. Our Bucket List is where you’ll find some of the more unusual, adventurous and unforgettable experiences we’ve encountered around the world.
Road Trips & Open Roads
Few places are better suited to the idea of the road trip than the Americas.
From long stretches of highway and legendary routes to scenic drives where the journey is just as important as the destination, travelling by road can give you a completely different perspective on a country.
Our Road Trips stories are about those journeys, the places worth stopping for and the unexpected discoveries that happen somewhere between the start and the destination.
More Than Just a Destination
What makes travelling through the Americas so interesting is the sheer variety. One trip might be about nature and wildlife, another about food and culture, and another about simply getting behind the wheel and seeing where the road leads.
That’s what we look for at FinallyLost.
We don’t just want to tell you where to go. We want to share what it actually feels like to be there – the places that surprised us, the experiences that stayed with us and the moments that made us glad we took the detour.
So whether you’re planning a first trip to the Americas or looking for somewhere beyond the usual tourist route, explore our stories and find inspiration for your next adventure.
And if you happen to get a little lost along the way, even better.
