Skagen Museum
So many artworks that your head will spinn. Paintings, paintings everywhere. Paintings from a lot (if not all) of the famous Skagen artists. It was founded in a dining room by the artists Michael Ancher, P.S. Krøyer, and Laurits Tuxen, as well as hotel proprietor Degn Brøndum and pharmacist Victor Chr. Klæbel. Back then when the museum building was completed in 1928, the collection consisted of 325 works, and with the fusion with Michael and Anna Ancher’s House and Drachmann’s House in 2014, the collection now houses almost 9000 works. That’s a lot of artwork in one place!

Anchers Hus
When Michael and Anna Anchers daughter, Helga was born in 1884, they bought the house at Markvej. After Michael and Anna passed away the house stayed uninhabited. In 1964 their daughter Helga died and after that, the house was restored and opened as a museum in 1967. The house has artwork and paintings from both Michael and Anna Ancher. But there are also paintings from other famous Skagen- painters. The most interesting thing is that the place has paintings from the floor to the ceiling. There is so much stuff in the house that you could spend a whole day there – just looking at all the paintings and stuff.
My personal favorites were the doors inside the house. They are painted and they look old but well preserved. And another thing was that they have carpets on their tables instead of tablecloths. I could not help but wonder if that was a fashion statement. It turns out that it was but that it has been like this since the house was inhabited by the family.
