There are many great restaurants in Gdansk. Restaurant Gdanski Bowke is one of them that we recommend you to visit. This place is rustic and the tables are old-fashioned and nice. And if the weather is nice you can eat your dinner or lunch outside and just enjoy the surroundings. This is the place where we drank Machandel, a vodka.

Starting dinner with a shot and soup
So Machandel is a vodka that you should serve cold. Inside the shot glass, there should be a dried plum. You should take the shot and eat the plum. And it tastes really good. I do believe that this vodka is German and not Polish. The level of alcohol is 38 percent. After the shot, we got a really nice soup. I loved the color (bright orange) so much that I almost didn’t want to eat it!
But I did and I’m glad that I did because it was really creamy and nice! In Poland, you often eat soup as a starter. I believe that this stems from the days when people were poor and couldn’t afford food. Making a soup was a lot cheaper and then you would eat less when it came to the second course. To this day, a lot of Polish households serve soup first and the main course after that.
Sunflower seeds as potatoes at Restaurant Gdanski Bowke
For the main course, we got Salmon. And the coolest part was that instead of potatoes the salmon was accompanied by sunflower seeds that were made as a risotto and it was “oh so good”. And there was also a puré made of peas and a bright red hibiscus sauce. I just love to get my food plated as an art piece and Restaurant Gdanski Bowke sure made my day!
For the desert, we got an amazing raspberry mousse with chocolate cake and a chopped melon (that looked like an onion). This was by far the nicest plated desert we had ever gotten. And it was just as good as it was nice to look at. And Mini got his beer in a real stein!
This restaurant is also part of the Pomorskie Prestige. That is a guarantee and you can be sure that you will be served some really great food at the restaurant. And we have tried quite a lot of these restaurants and we have not been disappointed once!
