Legend has it that 11 ghosts live in the castle
But unfortunately, we weren’t lucky enough to meet any Swedish ghosts!
The whole castle is 4 floors of ancient history. There are a lot of defensive works of that time such as false doors, dead ends, holes to pour boiling tar into, moats, and various other death traps.
Glimmingehus is located in Hammenhög outside Simrishamn and you can read more about it HERE
Address is Borgvägen 6, Hammenhög

The entry today (2024) is 100 Sek for a regular ticket and 80 Sek for seniors

Everyone needs routines
There is a small museum and a souvenir shop adjacent to the castle itself and these are also well worth a visit. In the shop, they sell, among other things, patterns for medieval clothing. If you choose to visit the castle without a guide, you should buy your tickets in the shop before entering the castle. But for some reason, there is no one there to check the tickets, so if you are a “fool” you can go right into the castle without paying. Maybe they should review their routines because there are sure to be many who choose to go in without a guide!
It was really cool just walking around in there, looking for ghosts and just soaking up the old castle. We had fun and there were a lot of crazy photos as proof 😉

Now we were there on a normal day (although we made it unusual). But they often have different events there that are connected to the Middle Ages, including jousting. So check out what’s happening if you want to go there!
