The Newport Restaurant & Marina is a restaurant that’s located by the harbor in Lubeck. We had the luck of going there for dinner one night and we were very satisfied with our visit to the restaurant. The only downside – we didn’t get the menu in English. 😝

The Newport Restaurant & Marina
The location is absolutely stunning and the ambiance inside the restaurant is really nice. It feels clean but yet comfy and homey. When we arrive, there are already a lot of people in the restaurant and we are seated at our table. We get the menu and it’s in German (later we see that they have menus in English too). Note to self: Always ask for the menu in English while in Germany.
Google translate turns out to be a great friend of ours. It’s a great app that often helps us during our travels. And with the help of that app, we can choose something from the menu that we want to eat for dinner. In the end, isn’t this part of being a foreigner in a new country, having a hard time translating the menu?
Dinner at The Newport Restaurant & Marina
Mini chooses to eat veal escalope. Escalope is a traditional German dish and one of Mini’s favorites. He always orders that when we are in Poland too. We are both choosing dishes from their “local specialties”. I decide to get the flounder (plaice). For me, this dish brings back memories since childhood. My parents used to have a restaurant and this was my favorite dish.
The food is served and it’s really good. Mini is drinking a local beer and I am having a glass of wine (as always). The olive-stir that is served with the bread is one of the best we have ever had. After a nice evening at the restaurant, we walk the short walk back to our hotel.
